Rift between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments surfaced once again at Nagarjuna Sagar project today with the Telangana Irrigation officials stopping the release of water to right bank canal.
Reacting to it, the Andhra Pradesh officials objected to stopping of water release even before completion of their share. The AP officials demanded that the Telangana government release water to the right canal immediately. The Krishna Board has allocated 10.5tmcft of water to Andhra Pradesh from Nagarjuna Sagar and the Andhra has so far drawn 10.2 tmcft only till today and it has to get 0.3 tmcft of more water. The AP officials asked their Telangana counterparts to give an explanation as to why they stopped water before completion of their share. In precautionary measure, both the States deployed huge police force on Sagar dam. (NSS)
