Water reservoir on historical Qutub Shahi masjid land

Shivajinagar, Shaikpet has 100 percent non Muslim population. It is said that there is a Qutub Shahi masjid and graveyard in the area which are spread over 3 acres of land. However it is being tried to obliterate the mosque and hide it from the sight of Muslims, besides demolishing the graves. Sadly this has not been done by any land grabber or anti social elements or miscreants, but has been done by government’s water department, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

Not only the land of the Qutub Shahi masjid and graveyards has been encroached upon, but a water tank has been constructed on it; at the same time the HMWS&SB has closed all four paths leading to the masjid to hide it from the sight of Muslims. After demolishing the graves the Hyderabad Metro Water Works and Sewerage board has also installed a big electricity transformer on the land. The plan prepared by HMWS&S Board does not mention any masjid and graveyard. Photography is also banned in the area lest Masjid and graveyard do not come into the sight of Muslims. The board installed in the area clearly states that photography is not allowed in the area.

The masjid is in very precarious condition and most of the graves have been demolished; those who have not been demolished, their epitaphs have been destroyed.

Locals told that the land had been occupied secretly under criminal plans. Before that the entire area was cordoned off using teen sheds and the water reservoir was constructed overnight 15 years ago.
