Water in Jagan’s chamber: Speaker allows MLAs, media to inspect

In the wake of allegations over rain water leaking into the chamber of Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy,  Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said legislators, media personnel and political leaders could inspect the Assembly premises on Friday and Saturday.

Talking to mediapersons at Narasaraopet in Guntur district today, the Speaker said the Assembly complex was inaugurated four months ago and there was rainfall during the previous Assembly session. When there was no water leakage then, how suddenly rain water leaked into the chamber of the Leader of Opposition alone, he asked. He strongly suspected that the water entering into Jaganmohan Reddy’s chamber was a part of greater conspiracy to defame the State government.

Sivaprasada Rao said all the facts would come out in the ongoing inquiry. He also said he would have permitted the Opposition members and the media to inspect the Assembly premises had they sought permission earlier. With the YSRCP legislators’ charge the State government ordered CID inquiry. The investigators intensified the probe and questioned several suspects after viewing CCTV footage in the Assembly complex. The CID officials have almost concluded that “some mischief mongers” were behind the water flowing into the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition to make the government embarrassed and discredited.
