The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board reiterated its advice to the public to not to take illegal water supply connections and also not to resort to reconnect the disconnected water supply connection without paying their arrears. Else, the Board said customers would be liable to be punished with fine or imprisonment or both. The imprisonment can be even up to five years.
In a surprise inspection by the HMWSSB Managing Director J Syamala Rao along with Task Force and Vigilance officials on Monday, two cases of illegal reopening of water supply disconnections were found. The two cases pertaining to Alkapuri Section of O&M Division.No.X were booked in the LB Nagar Police Station. While one tenant has been arrested, the owners are absconding in both the cases registered under Section 49 & 52 of HMWSSB Act 1989 and 430 IPC, Section-3 of Prevention of Damages of Public Property Act 1984.
Therefore, the HMWSSB has requested the customers not to reopen the water supply connection illegally without paying their dues otherwise action will be taken. Also, the HMWSSB has identified some illegal water supply connections and criminal cases would be filed against them. (INN)
