Hyderabad, February 14: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director, M Jagadeeshwar has directed the Green Brigade contractors to intensify disconnection of water connections of defaulters.
The GB contractors who meet their targets would receive an incentive of Rs 1000, said Jagadeeshwar. He added that defaulters should cough up the entire outstanding amount and Rs 1000 towards disconnection charges.
Jagadeeswar said the HMWS&SB had slapped 20,000 notices on defaulters and more were being sent.
In the past one week, over 100 connections including sewerage have been disconnected. This has led to many defaulters coming forward to pay their arrears. GB contractors were provided with special T-shirts for easy identification and would be given identity cards soon, the MD said.
The Vigilance Task Force led by Srihari, inspector, HMWSSB police station raided some multi-storeyed buildings like Paigah Plaza, Hira Mansion, Sri Sai Krishna mess in Basheerbagh and disconnected their sewerage connections, as they owed lakhs of rupees.
