Watch:Shoe hurled at Kejriwal: Police arrests ‘Aam Aadmi Sena’ attacker

The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested the man who hurled a shoe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal when he was addressing a press conference on the second odd-even plan in the city.

The police have registered a case under sections 186, 353, 355 of Indian penal code.

“He said that he wasn’t happy with present government. We are probing the matter, he will be produced before the court tomorrow,” said DCP Central, Parmaditya, told reporters here.

The attacker, identified as Ved Prakash, claimed he was from Aam Aadmi Sena, a breakaway faction of AAP.

He talked about alleged irregularities in distribution of CNG stickers and claimed that no action has been taken though a complaint was filed by him.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today came to inform the public about the second phase of the odd-even vehicle rationing scheme from April 15 to 30, and instead, almost took a shoe hit.

Delhi transport minister Gopal Rai condemned the incident, saying “it would not deter our aim to provide good governance and our commitment towards a cleaner environment”. “It’s an act done by a frustrated man. Incidents like these keep on happening,” he added.

BJP’s Nalin Kohli also condemned the attack. “Somewhere, a line needs to be drawn to stop such acts,” he said.
