Golla Srinivas is one among from St. Mary’s High School in Vijaynagar Colony who secured 9.5 grades in SSC and stood first in the school, which predominantly consists of students from lower middle class families.
Srinivas’s mother is a housemaid who toils day long for scanty sum while his father Ramulu is a watchman in an apartment in Masab Tank.
“My son’s score of 9.5 grade is the highest ever from his school,” says a proud Ramulu. Sattemma never went to school while Ramulu is a semi-literate. But Srinivas wants to be the first one to enter into a college from his family and study engineering.
“I will study engineering after completing polytechnic course to gain skills in mechanical stream,” says Srinivas, who is a good artiste as well.
“Such success stories are an inspiration and it shows poverty is not an obstacle in the way of success,” says Swapna Sundari, who resides in the apartment where Ramulu is a watchman.
