New Delhi: Five students of Jawaharlal Nehru University, including Umar Khalid, who were being looked by the police for making ‘anti-national’ statements on the campus earlier, surfaced at the varsity on Sunday.
Khalid was seen addressing over 200 students outside the administration block on Sunday night. Questions raised as I am Umar khalid but I am not terrorist.
“In the last seven years in campus I never felt I was a Muslim and in last 10 days I was made to feel, I was a Muslim. I am Umar Khalid and I’m not a terrorist,” said Khalid.
“The media, all this while, presented a lot of things about me. The media trial, this propaganda… I know what my family is going through,” Khalid said.
He also refuted claims that he made 800 calls to ‘Gulf or Kashmir’ a few days prior to the programme organised.
Police teams have been positioned outside the University and have been asked to wait for the students to surrender themselves.
