Watch: Israeli burns Palestinian baby to death, released without charge

Damascus: An Israeli was released from custody within ten months after being detained for burning an entire family to death.

The attack burned 18-month-old Ali Dawabsha to death instantly. His parents both later died of their burns at a hospital. Their first child, four-year-old Ahmad, was burned over 60% of his body and he spent months in the hospital but he survived the attack and continues to recover.

Meir Ettinger, 20, led the arson attack on the Dawabsheh home in the village of Duma located in Palestine in July, 2015.

Palestinians incur horrific violence at the hands of Israelis but are rarely charged for their crimes by Israel, which is illegally occupying the Palestinian lands and denies the residents from the most basic rights in the Palestinian West Bank while Israeli Jews enjoy full rights.

B’Tselam, a human rights organization that documents Israeli crimes states:

“As the occupying force, Israel must protect the Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the Israeli authorities neglect to fulfill this responsibility and do not do enough to prevent Israeli civilians from attacking Palestinians, their property and their lands. The undeclared policy of the Israeli authorities in response to these attacks is lenient and conciliatory. Perpetrators are rarely tried, and many cases are not investigated at all or are closed with no operative conclusions”

In fact, the overwhelming majority of crimes against Palestinians go unpunished. For those that do, sentences are often lenient.
