WASHINGTON: Imam Mohamed Magid, a well-known figure in Washington, who was expected to deliver the “Muslim call to prayer” at Donald Trump’s inaugural multi-faith prayer service instead recited some verses of the Holy Qur’an in front of the 45th president of the United States.
The Imam did a commandable job and used the opportunity to recite the verses in order to give clear political messages for the new president and his administration.
Imam Mohamed Magid addressing the President Donald Trump, his family and Vice President Michael Pence and others recited two passages from the Quran at the event held at the Washington National Cathedral on Saturday.

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ
“O humankind, We have created you a single male and female (Adam and Eve) and made you into nations and tribes and communities, that you may know one another. Really, the most honored of you in the sight of God is the most righteous of you, and God has all knowledge…”
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ خَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافُ أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَأَلْوَانِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْعَالِمِينَ
“And among the signs of God is the creation of heaven and earth, and the variation in your languages and your colors. Verily, in that are signs for those who know.”
Magid, executive director of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, also known as the ADAMS Center, in Sterling, Virginia, decision to participate in the service has been sharply criticized by fellow Muslims.
The video also show Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump try to move in the beginning of the Holy Quran recitation and Mr. Trump actually stop her from making a such body movement.
Trump’s treatment towards Muslims, Latinos, Mexicans and women has been described as most controversial.
