Watch: Cop in the viral video was not ‘drunk’, he actually suffered a stroke

A video showing an allegedly drunk policeman on the Delhi Metro had gone viral on Social media last year.
People mocked the police officer, 50-year-old Salim PK for what looked like drunken disorderly conduct, and the police decided to punish him.

Salim’s wife slipped into depression and suffered a heart attack. The family also started receiving phone calls from their home town Kerala inquiring about his behavior.

Salim, a Head Constable with the Delhi Police and his family was devastated after the incident.

According to the report ,The officer, posted at the Civil Lines police station of Delhi, approached the Apex Court after getting a clean chit from the then Police Commissioner B S Bassi. His suspension was withdrawn and he was reinstated on November 5, 2015.

A police enquiry and verification of his medical records found that Salim’s claims that he was not drunk on metro on August 19, 2015, but disorientated and dizzy state was the result of acute health problems and partial paralysis of his body.

The constable has approached the Supreme Court seeking compensation for the media vilification that “irreparably maligned his image in the eyes of the public.”

Salim wants the Delhi government, the state’s Metro Rail Corporation, and the Press Council of India to take steps so that he can “regain his lost dignity by publishing the correct factual position in print and electronic media”.
