Shimla: A 44-year-old bridge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district collapsed, in Kangra due to heavy rain.
According to a report in NDTV, a cell phone video recording , shows a large portion of the 160-metre bridge and its pillars collapsing and getting washed away in the heavy current. Officials present at the spot said 10 pillars supporting the 76 metres of the bridge were washed awayy by flood waters.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the authorities on Wednesday after noticing cracks in the pillars halted the movement on the bridge.
The incident happened just 10 days after a British-era bridge on the Mumbai-Goa highway had collapsed, claiming at least 14 lives.
