Ahmedabad, May 03: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that has arrested deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Abhay Chudasama for allegedly conspiring to eliminate Sohrabuddin Sheikh is, however, yet to figure out why exactly Sohrabuddin could have been targeted.
But according to a source familiar with the development, Chudasama wanted to take revenge after Sohrabuddin did not give him his share from a huge extorted amount in 2004. Shorabuddin finalised a deal in lakhs with a city-based businessman but did not give any money to Chudasama.
The source on the condition of anonymity told that in 2001 a deal of Rs40 lakh was finalised by Sohrabuddin with the owner of a construction company. In this case, Sohrabuddin gave Chudasama his share.
In 2004, a similar deal in lakhs was finalised by Sohrabuddin with a city-based businessman. This time, however, Shorabuddin did not inform Chudasama about the deal. Neither he paid a penny from this to Chudasama.
“In 2004, Sohrabuddin was asked to finalise the deal from which he was supposed to give money to some police officers,” the source said.
The non-payment of the money to Chudasama angered the police officer very much and he wanted to take revenge on Shorabuddin, said the source. The officer allegedly targeted some aides of Sohrabuddin by implicating them in fake cases.
In the process, Chudasama found Tulsi Prajapati to extract from him the whereabouts of Sohrabuddin. Prajapati told Chudasama that Sohrabuddin was in Hyderabad. So when Chudasama came to know that Sohrabuddin was in Hyderabad, he thought of a plan to eliminate him.
Later, other officers joined the plan to abduct and eliminate Sohrabuddin.
