Hyderabad, March 06: A student, who inhaled tear gas released by police on students during recent clashes on the Osmania University campus and developed health complication, died yesterday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Warangal.
The student, M Ashok, was a first year student of MA (public administration) at PG college, Secunderabad. According to reports, Ashok took part in the recent ‘Chalo Assembly’ protest called by OUJAC demanding tabling of separate Telangana bill in the Parliament.
As students tried to venture out of the campus, police obstructed them leading to a violent clash between the two groups.
Police lobbed several tear gas shells to quell students who were hurling stones at them and Ashok reportedly got injured by one of the shell and he inhaled the gas.
Ashok, said to be an asthma patient, was shifted to a hospital in the city and as his condition showed signs of improvement, he was discharged and he went to his native place in Warangal district.
A few days later, Ashok developed health complications and was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial hospital in Warangal where he died today. The OUJAC held a condolence meeting and took out a rally condoling his death.
