Elections to the Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations and Achampet municipality will be held on March 6 and the results will be declared on March 9.
The State Election Commissioner today released the schedule of civic elections. The process of filing nominations for the elections will begin on Monday and will close on February 24. The scrutiny of the papers will be done on February 25 and February 26 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
There are 58 wards in Warangal municipal corporation and 50 wards in Khammam corporation. The State government has recently finalized reservations in both the municipal corporations. Out of 50 wards in Khammam civic body, nine wards have been reserved for BC general, eight wards each to BCs and general women, three each for SC women and SC general. One ward has been earmarked for ST woman. Similarly out of 58 wards in Warangal Municipal Corporation, one division was reserved for ST general, five seats each to SC general and women. Ten seats were reserved for BC general and nine wards for BC women.
As the ruling party swept elections in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation recently by thumping majorities followed by victory in Narayankhed Assembly by-election, the leaders and cadre of TRS are confidently saying the pink party would repeat the show in these elections. (NSS)
