Warangal, April 04: For the first time in the country, the state government has issued identity cards to 90 orphans in Warangal district.
BC Welfare Minister Baswaraju Saraiah handed over the cards, issued by the revenue department, to orphans at a programme held at Bala Vikasa Bhavan in Kazipet today.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the method of issuing ID cards to orphans was not there in the country. It is being done for the first time in our state, he informed.
These cards, he said, will help them have an identity of their own, irrespective of religion, caste and other details. “Orphans can get their work done by sporting these cards. They need not provide any other details,” he said.
The minister hailed NGOs for their service to orphans.Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar urged people to love orphans. He urged officials to ensure good education and employment to them.
Warangal Urban SP Prabhakar Rao, Women and Child Welfare regional director Chandrika, project director Ramulu, Bala Vikasa director Souri Reddy, NGOs association representative Mamata Raghuveer were present.
