Hyderabad, December 20: War of words and difference of opinion have been taking place among the ruling Congress leaders on `bifurcation’.
Besides organizing separate meetings to discuss their future action programme, leaders have now started criticising their own partymen for their stand on Telangana issue.
Senior Telangana Congress leader Palvai Goverdhan Reddy today ridiculed Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for his stand on unified Andhra.
Rajagopal has to `grow’ a lot in the party since he has entered into the Congress only seven years ago. “Congress leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions should quit the party if they have no confidence on the Central leadership,’’ he said.
The senior Congress leader also wanted Chief Minister K Rosaiah to be `impartial’ in respect of developmental activities in the three regions of the State. Till date, major portion of funds allocations were made to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions as compared to Telangana, he alleged.
Senior Telangana Congress leader and MLC KR Amos that the Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders were trying to create a `fear’ by resorting to false propaganda that the `Andhra’ people would be driven away from the region after formation of Telangana State.
Meanwhile, senior Congress legislator JC Diwakar Reddy (hailing from Rayalaseema region) after his return to the City from Delhi this evening, told media persons that the ongoing agitation for unified State was `spontaneous’.
Leaders in Delhi have said that the `Assembly resolution’ would be taken into consideration while taking a decision on Telangana. “I will suggest to the Chief Minister K Rosaiah to once again call for an all-party meeting to take views of all political parties in the State on the bifurcation issue,’’ he added.
Asked about withdrawal of resignations of the Congress MLAs to their posts following Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s statement on Telangana on December 9, the senior leader said that though the resignations by the MLAs were submitted separately on December 10, a collective decision would be taken in respect of withdrawal.
On the other hand, Telangana Congress leaders have called for a meeting tomorrow to discuss their future course of action in view of ongoing agitation in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. Telangana party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and PCC office-bearers were invited for the meeting to be held at the Assembly Committee hall here. Meanwhile, the Congress and Praja Rajyam Party leaders who included MPs, MLA s and MLCs representing Andhra and Rayalaseema regions would also meet in the Assembly committee hall on December 22 to discuss about their future agitation programme.
