Waqf Survey Commissioner Masooma Begum, appointed as member Telangana Waqf Tribunal

Hyderabad: Telangana government has appointed Waqf Survey Commissioner Masooma Begum as member of Telangana Waqf Tribunal and issued orders in this connection on Monday. It must be noted that after the bifurcation of Waqf Board, Telangana government formed Waqf Tribunal. Of the 3-member Tribunal two members were already appointed while the appointment of the third member was remaining. Government has appointed Masooma Begum on the vacant post.

Waqf Tribunal was defunct for the past six months due to non-availability of the space. Space has been provided for the tribunal in the Gruhakalpa building located at Nampally.

Objections are being raised from various quarters on appointment of a lady belonging to local political party as an expert in religious and Waqf affairs, because a neutral and non-political person should be appointed in the institution meant for protection of Waqf properties so that the decisions taken by the tribunal remain free from any political influence.
