Waqf Board has revoked the orders under which the open land adjacent to Hajj House was given to lease for parking. The Board had decided to allot the open land for parking to a function Hall and issued orders in this connection yesterday evening. However it revoked the order as the controversy erupted on the matter and the move was opposed by various quarters.
It has been learnt that some other private institutions including schools had also tried to obtain the land on lease however following government level pressure it was decided to allot the land for function hall parking. Sources said that the decision was against mansha-e-waqf and also evoked opposition from various minority organisations and institutions working for protection of Waqf properties, hence withdrawn at the last hour.
