Waqf Board chairman Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biabani Khusro Pasha released a book regarding Waqf Act 1995 and the fresh amendments made in it. He asserted that protection of waqf properties can be done through the recent amendments made in the Waqf Act 1995; it will also ensure increase in Waqf Board income through effective development of the properties. If the amendments made in the Waqf Act are strictly implemented then Waqf Board can launch several schemes for the welfare of Muslim minorities on its own. He added.
Speaking to media persons after the release of book at Hajj House, Maulana Khusro Pasha disclosed that the book has been published in order to inform mutavalis, supervisors and general Muslims about the Waqf Act and its amendments.
The amendment has banned sale of Waqf properties, it has obligated renewal of lease deed every year. There is also a provision for enhancement of rent as per market value after every 11 months.
