It was not long after the multi-crore scam came to light in the Minority Finance Corporation and all the institutions under Minority Welfare Department have become vigilant, an enquiry office of the waqf board has been caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10000.
According to details an ancient Jama masjid is located at Jalapur (Bilalpur) village, Manupahad Mandal of Mahboobnager. There is 137 acre 21 guntas land under the masjid. It is said that only 40 acre land remained now and the remaining land has been encroached upon Hindus and Muslims. Anti corruption Bureau officials caught the waqf board enquiry officer Mir Shujauddin when he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10000 from the mutavalli of the masjid Syed Lal, son of Syed Mastan Ali, in the above mentioned masjid case. Shujauddin had called Syed Lal to a hotel near Waqf Board where he was caught in ACB net.
According to Mr. Syed Lal he was appointed the mutavalli of the 700 year old jama masjid on 16-2-2010. He wanted protection of the valuable waqf land and wished that the land is not transferred in any other name but his rival Syed Babu approached the Waqf Board.
Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board appointed Mir Shujauddin to look into the matter. According to Syed Lal, Mira Shujauddin accepted Rs 25000 from the rival group on the first day of the enquiry itself. Mr. Lal claimed that 58 acre land has been transferred in the name of rival group. He told that some days ago Mir Shujauddin informed him on phone that 58 acre land has been transferred in the name of rival group and some of the land will be transferred in Lal’s name for that he asked later to meet at his residence.
Waqf board has suspended Mir Shujauddin with immediate effect.
