Karachi : Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has backed the appointment of Inzamam-ul-Haq as the new chief selector, saying that the latter would surely going to make a difference in the team’s performance.
Inzamam was appointed as the Pakistan chief selector in a major overhaul of the team following the dismal World T20 campaign in India.
46-year-old Inzamam, who represented Pakistan in 120 Tests and 398 ODIs, shortlisted former cricketers Tauseef Ahmed, Wasim Haider and Wajahatullah Wasti as a part of the new selection panel.
Jubilant with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to implement one of his suggestions that he gave after the 2015 World Cup, Waqar said that Inzamam would not going to be dictated by anyone and insisted that everyone should support his appointment, the Express Tribune reported.
Waqar further said that Inzamam has moved on from the era of being considered to be a tough taskmaster and that he now pays more focus on cricket rather than the religious practices of the players. (ANI)
