Hyderabad: On Thursday, Justice A Rajasekhar Reddy, High Court of Hyderabad directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation not to carry out any work that may adversely affect the Cheruvu lake which is located at Raidurg in Serilingampally Mandal of Ranga Reddy district.
This order is used on the petition filed by E Sudhakar, a local fisherman. In the petition, he stated that dumping debris into the lake and constructing a walkway in the name of beautification is illegal. His counsel, R Sameer Ahmed told the court that the GHMC officials are filling the lake and its inflow channels with debris and are constructing a walkway which will impact on the livelihood of his client.
He further said that destroying lake in the name of beautification is not good for the city. GHMC has been directed to file counters.
