Hyderabad, October 24: Rotary Club of Gachibowli is organising a 5 km walk for peace and hope as part of its fund raising programme for providing the basic civic amenities to the government school girls in Serlingampally.
Talking about the event, Jony Lawrence, president of Rotary Club, Gachibowli said, “It is a fund raising programme for the school as it has no facilities, including toilets. We will provide those basic requirements to the school with all the funds that we collect from this walk.” In order to raise funds, the club will distribute patron passes, gold and silver. The Gold pass will be available for Rs 500 and the Silver one would be available for Rs 300.
“For all those who buy these passes, Hotel Ista will be giving them 20 per cent discount, through out this month, as a token of appreciation,” Lawrence informed. The club is expecting 500 to 1,000 participants during the walk, which will take place inside the premises of the Gachibowli Stadium at 7.30 am on October 25, Sunday.
Since the club has a lot of partners like Pepsi, Kingfisher, Mantri Constructions and ICICI Bank, all the money collected from the walk will go to the school, as the sponsors will give all the cost.
“The walk is also to show solidarity to the school children as the school children and the principal will also be attending the walk,” Lawrence said.
Though it is not a professional walk, they will be giving awards to winners of the walk. The competition will be held in four categories: Adults, Kids, Senior Citizens and Women.
