Wakf Tribunal fined Rs.10,000 to GMR

Hyderabad, October 23 (Siasat News): Those who violate the judicial orders, a fine of Rs. 10,000 could be a punishment but those who committed the heinous crime of demolishing a mosque, their punishment would be decided by Allah only which is unimaginable for an ordinary human being.

In the case of keeping the status of Masjid Omar Farooque unchanged and violating the order of the tribunal, the GMR Company, which undertakes the management of the airport, was fined by wakf tribunal of Rs. 10,000. This is the punishment of the court but Allah’s wrath is still to be delivered.

When the construction work was going on, the danger to then existing mosque was very much brought to the notice of the tribunal by the Mutawali for the safeguard of the mosque.

The tribunal had delivered an order on February 13to keep the status of the mosque unchanged and ordered the state administration and GMR to make it sure that the mosque would be protected at any cost. Wakf Tribunal’s instructions were totally neglected and GMR hands in glove with some Muslim politicians, demolished Masjid Omar Farooque.

Then another case was filed in the court in connection with contempt of the court and also contacted AP minority commission and filed a petition regarding the demolition of the mosque. Chairman commission had visited the under construction work site of the airport and inspected the place of the mosque but failed to take any action.

Later, it was expected that at the time of the inauguration of the airport there would be some representation in connection with rebuilding of the mosque but it did not happen.

The matter was very much remained with wakf tribunal. In the on going trial No. 2/2007, the presiding officer Mr. Syed Ghouse Pasha fined Rs. 10,000 on GMR for violating the court order and contempt of the court and instructed the district collector Ranga Reddy to be present at Wakf tribunal on 23.10.2009 at 10.30 am.

The punishment of Rs. 10,000 as fine clearly shows that the Masjid Omar Farooque was demolished between February 13 and March 14, 2007.
