Wakf Property near Airport: A sheer case of injustice

Thousands of acres of land belonging to Dargah Hazrath Baba Sharfuddin was taken over in the area of Shamshabad airport. Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the then CM of AP had handed over 50 acres of land on 11th Feb 2009 to the then Chairman of AP State Wakf Board Mr. Ilyas Seth. The survey number of this land is 99/1 and it is adjacent to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

This piece of land admeasuring 50 acres is worth Rs. 350 crore. This meeting was attended by the then minister Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Mr. Ahmedullah, Late Maulana Mohammed Hameeduddin Aqil Hussami, Maulana Abdul Rahim Quraishi and Maulana Khusro Biyabani.

The government acquired 900 to 1100 Acres of Wakf land near the Shamsabad Airport. Though the government claims that it has already paid for this land but there is no proof for that.

The government and GMR also demolished Masjid Omer Farooq which was located where the runway of Rajiv Gandhi Internatioanl airport has been constructed now, GMR just paying compensation to 50 Muslims and 20 Hindus who resided around the Masjid.

The chairman of Wakf Board Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani visited this Wakf land along with his staff and got the board. “This land belongs to AP State Wakf Board” erected on the land. The same matter was got pointed on the adjoining rocks of the hillock.

Speaking to media persons on this occasion, the Chairman of Wakf Board told that within 15 days, such boards will also be erected on almost all the Wakf properties. This piece of land admeasuring 50 acres will be cordoned and a control room would be setup here in which security staff would be present round the clock.

The Chairman rejected all the rumours spread about this land. Govt. has allotted 85 acres of land in Hayathnagar Mandal. In a response to a question raised about this property, the Chairman told that a similar board would be erected at Hayathnagar land also.
