Wakf problems represented to CM

Hyderabad, February 01: Chairman of AP State Wakf Board, Maulana Khusro Pasha along with the Minister of Minorities welfare met the CM of AP Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and apprised him of the problems faced by Wakf Board.

Talking to newsmen, the Chairman said that he made a representation to CM for filling up vacant posts in Wakf Board, introduction of pension scheme for its employees and enhancement of Govt. grant. He said that at present Wakf Board is left with 169 employees.

The vacancies caused by its employees on retirement have not been filled up. The sanctioned cadre strength of Wakf Board is 236 which needs to be doubled. The Board had sought permission to fill up atleast 44 vacancies but the Dept. of Minorities Welfare imposed a ban on it. He said that the pressure of work has increased on the staff and nearly 60% Wakf Properties are under the possession of illegal occupants. Hundreds of cases are pending in various courts. In order to carry out all these responsibilities Wakf Board needs more staff.

He said that Rs. 5 crore for repairs to Dargahs and graveyards, Rs. 5 crore for payment of Salaries to Imams, Rs. One crore for payment of pensions to widows, Re. One crore for payment of salaries to Wakf Board Staff have been demanded.

He clarified the false propaganda published in newspapers. He mentioned that a delegation of A.P. State Wakf Board visited the neighbouring state of Karnataka where BJP is the ruling party, but it is giving generous grants to Karnataka State Wakf Board.
