Wakf Board slaps show-cause notice to Anwar ul Uloom chief

The AP State Wakf Board (APSWB) has issued show-cause notices to well-known businessman and secretary of Anwar ul Uloom Educational Association (AUEA) Mahboob Alam Khan, directing him to illuminate why properties of the association should not be taken over by the board.

According to APSWB special officer Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, the board has been being paid neither wakf fund nor rents from Anwar ul Uloom Educational Association AUEA’s properties in various parts of the city.
AUEA operates schools and a junior college in Nampally, a degree college in the heart of Mallepally on a 14,236-square yard land and owns five houses in Chaderghat.

“The association does not have a mutawalli or a committee appointed by the APSWB which is the reason why we have gone ahead with sending the notices. We have not even received wakf fund for decades,” said Iqbal.

Correspondingly, the board on January 15 had taken over properties of the Madina Education and Welfare Society (MEWS) headquartered in Nampally into its direct administration on the grounds that they were built on lands endowed to a wakf institution registered in 1947.
