Wakf Board is making attempts to lease out 50 acres of land to increase its income

Hyderabad: TS Wakf Board is making an attempt to increase its income. In this connection, it is getting ready to lease out 50 acres of Wakf land located near Shamsabad International Airport. This wakf land is adjacent to Dargah Hazrat Baba Sharfuddin, Mamidipally under survey number 99/1. During the regime of Dr. YSR, Govt. had allotted this land to Wakf Board in lieu of acquiring wakf land for the construction of the airport.

Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Chairman, Telangana State Wakf Board, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Mannan Farooqui, CEO of Wakf Board and other officials of Wakf Board inspected the land. It was decided to demarcate the boundary of the land and also to construct a compound wall to protect the property. It was also decided to get a development plan prepared by an expert organization.

It may be mentioned that Govt. of Telangana through its GOMs 1 dated 16-01-2017 permitted Wakf Board to lease out 11 wakf properties for a period of 30 years.

According to the wakf records, Dargah Hazrat Baba Sharuddin has 2138 acres of land out of which, 1500 acres of land was utilized for the construction of the airport. Govt. also allotted lands to paper mills and other organizations.

It may be mentioned that during the construction of the airport, Masjid Omer Farooq was dismantled since it was coming in the way of the runway of the airport.

It is reported that the mutawalli of this land is HE Nizam of Hyderabad. The issue of developing 500 acres of land has already been discussed in the recently held meeting of the Wakf Board.

Wakf Board officials also inspected the land belonging to Dargah Hazrat Razdar Husain admeasuring one acre. Most part of this land has been utilized for the construction of flyover and extension of the road. Wakf Board will take action to get compensation for this land from the Govt.

After the inspection of the land, talking to newsmen, Mr. Mohammed Saleem told that wakf land in Shamsabad was inspected today. He also told that notice could be given to GMR Company which is responsible for the management of the airport. He mentioned that action would be taken only after consulting the lawyers.
