‘Wake Up Sid’ is a nerve soother: Director

Mumbai, August 28: “Wake Up Sid” is a movie that’s been directed by the debutant director “Ayaan Mukherjee”. The movie is about a young man dating an old woman on the other hand he is horrified by rumours that it revolves around a handsome guy and a not-so-good looking girl.

When questioned, Mukherjee said in a bit of anger, “All I can tell you is, this marketing funda didn’t come from me or Karan Johar. You think I’d dare to call my heroine, not attractive, who I think is simply outstanding and awesome.”

The romantic comedy is produced by Karan Johar and features the new pretty face “Ranbir Kapoor” and simply superb actress “Konkona Sen Sharma”. The movie is scheduled to hit the silver screen on October 2nd this year.

“Someone normally saw the actors Ranbir and Konkona together and decided to draw their own conclusions. To me Konkona is at the moment the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. To be frank, my last shot was with her and I just couldn’t stop gawking,” added Mukherjee.

When enquired whether Wake Up Sid is about an old woman in love with a young guy?

“Yes, the lady’s character Ayesha is a few years older than the guy. But it’s not Summer of 42, please! Nor is the age difference roofed as it was between Ranbir and Bipasha in Bachna Ae Haseeno. What happened was that we wrote in the age difference because I wanted only these two to be in my film.

As soon as I saw Ranbir in Sanjay Bhansali’s “Saawariya”, I at once projected that yes, this was my Sid. He was young, energetic and hungry to confiscate the life. He was like me. You’ve to admit Ranbir and Konkona is together a pair that no one would even think of. I took the challenge. And I also saw Konkona has been around in the industry longer than Ranbir. So I conveniently turned the character into a slightly older woman, And Wake Up Sid is surely going to sooth your nerves” said Mukherjee, who also is a cousin of Kajol.
