Dubai, October 18: A policeman, who claimed that his father is the chief of Sharjah Police, was produced in court Monday on charges of kidnapping and raping a waitress.
Prosecutors accused the policeman, 26-year-old Omani S.A., of kidnap and deception, and raping the 27-year-old Moroccan waitress after posing as a policeman and picking her up while she waited for a taxi.
“No I did not kidnap her. And I did not rape her… I am not guilty,” argued S.A. when he defended himself in the Dubai Court of First Instance.
Desert area
Prosecutors charged him with driving his car to a desert area after kidnapping the victim L.O.
Then he forced her out of his vehicle and had sex with her against her will, the court heard.
The suspect firmly refuted his accusations in courtroom four. His lawyer asked presiding judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad to adjourn the case to hear prosecution witnesses and prepare his defence. L.O. testified that the incident happened after she and two compatriot women walked out of a shisha place around 3am.
“We jumped into the taxi to go to my friend, B.H.’s, house in Sharjah. The suspect and two other men came over to the driver and asked him to pull over. Claiming that they were policemen, they asked him to present his papers. B.H. and I stepped out of the cab… she left in another taxi while I waited for one. S.A. came to me and offered to drive me home… I told him that I lived in Al Mutainah,” she said.
“He prevented taxis from stopping to pick me up and said he would take me to the police station for questioning… he forced me into his car, locked the doors from inside and drove until we reached the desert. When he asked me to have sex with him, I refused.”
‘Drove away’
She continued: “He forced me out of the car and raped me. He left me and drove away… then returned and picked me up after 15 minutes. I asked him to drop me at B.H.’s house. My friend gave him directions to her place over the phone.
“When he dropped me off, he claimed that he didn’t care if I reported the matter to the police because his father is the chief of Sharjah Police,” L.O. claimed during prosecution questioning.
Her friend, B.H., confirmed her statement. “When she came to my residence, she seemed exhausted and her clothes and hair were in a mess. She claimed to me that she begged the suspect not to rape her, but he threatened her. Later we complained to the police,” claimed B.H.
