Wageboard: steps to implement recommendations soon

Kochi, September 08: The government will take steps to implement the Wage Board recommendations as early as possible after a report is submitted, Union minister Vayalar Ravi today said.

“More and more journalists are being employed on contract basis and efforts will have to be taken to ensure that they are not being exploited,” the minister for overseas Indian affairs said after inaugurating a joint convention of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) and Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation (KNEF).

The wageboard, headed by justice G R Majithia, is expected to file its report by December.

K C Rajagopal, KUWJ State president, trade union leaders K Chandran Pillai and Thampan Thomas, both former MPs, were among those who participated.
