W B refutes desecration of graves at Shaikpet graveyard

Hyderabad, April 21: State Congress President Minority department Mr. Mohammad Siraj Uddin protested against the construction of road on Shaikpet graveyard and demanded cancellation of agreement between Municipal corporation and Waqf Board, or else he warned of staging a protest.

Meanwhile State Waqf Board Chairman Mr. Khusro Pasha claimed that the agreement is not a losing deal as the land received as compensation is 800 sqyd extra than the land given for the construction of road. If any grave is identified during construction the agreement will be cancelled.

Local Muslims took to roads in protest against the construction of road on Waqf property Chaukhandi at Shaikpet. The traffic was disrupted for some time as scores of Muslims took to roads in protest. The protesting Muslims raised slogans against Waqf Board and Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and demanded cancellation of agreement.

Mr. Siraj Uddin said ‘Muslims will not tolerate construction of roads by excavation of graves. It would be better if Waqf board cancels the agreement and not allow Municipal Corporation to construct road.’

When the matter was discussed with State Waqf Board chairman Mr. Khusro Pasha he told that the municipal body had acquired the land under land acquisition act under public interest and the municipal corporation has given compensatory land at the same place 800 sqyd more than the actual land acquired.
