VUDA recommends criminal action in land irregularities

A comprehensive enquiry report submitted by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority(VUDA) Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar has recommended initiation of criminal action against all the persons involved in the irregularities concerning its land.

VUDA spokesman last night said the report was submitted to the state government by Mr Sasidhar through the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development(MAUD) in Hyderabad The value of the land is put at Rs 500 crore.

It was learnt that the report recommended cancellation of all land allotments made in violation of rules during the past four years.

The land allotments involved Ozone valley, where land was developed in land-pooling involving farmers, Cyber Valley developed by VUDA, Rushikonda, Endada, MVP Colony, Ocean View layout on the Beach Road and Kurmannapalem. Some of the allotments were alleged to have been made during the tenure of a former Secretary and Estate Officer of VUDA. While it is for the government to take action against private individuals and any officials involved, Mr Sasidhar himself would initiate action against subordinate staff, it was reliably learnt.

The Vice-Chairman’s report mainly covered the allotment of an open space of 1400 square yards meant for semi-community purpose in Sector II of MVP Colony on which an apartment complex is coming up, allotments in illegal layout in survey number 127 of Madhurawada and allotment of odd bits in various parts of the Port City at throwaway prices.
