VRO, VRA exams held peacefully

Barring a few incidents of delay in sending examination papers to the centers and arrest of a gang of people for trying to resort to mass copying in Kurnool, the VRO, VRA examinations were held peacefully at 3,684 centers across the State. While 14 lakh candidates applied for the examination, some 85 to 91 per cent have taken the examinations.
According to the information, candidates protested in Khammam and Visakhapatnam districts for failing to get the examination papers on time. While in Visakhapatnam district, examination papers reached about two hours late, in Khammam district only about 300 papers reached the examination centers as against 600 candidates applied.
Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said only merit candidates will get jobs. He reiterated that there was no room for corruption and irregularities in this regard. Stating that a group of persons was nabbed for supporting mass copying, he said the government would not tolerate if anyone tried to tamper with the things.
Meanwhile, the Revenue officials, in a communiqué stated the examinations were peaceful except in Khammam and Vizag. The Government has extended two hours time to compensate the delay, the officials said. (NSS)
