Hyderabad, April 12: A village revenue officer (VRO) from Medak district was caught on Monday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths accepting bribe.
ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught the VRO M Lingamaiah of Ch Kondapur village in Medak district on Monday evening when he took Rs 3,000 bribe from a person for doing an official favour, an official release said.
Lingamaiah was arrested and would be produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the ACB sleuths conducted a surprise check on the sub-registrar office at Azampura in Malakpet today afternoon and seized more than Rs 78,000 from private agents.
According to ACB officials, an amount of Rs 40,415 was seized from three private agents, Syed Jabran, Basith Khan and Mohd Ayub Khan during the searches.
Similarly another Rs 33,100 was seized from a person, Ganesh Nayakar Raju and Rs 5,000 from a file adjacent to the junior assistant (EC section) Rajendra Kumar.
Sleuths also seized attendance register, receipt book and personal cash declaration registers of the staff for further verification.
