VP Ansari leaves for Delhi after two-day sojourn in city

Vice President Hamid Ansari on Sunday left for national capital winding up his two-day sojourn here, in a special flight of Indian Air Force from Begumpet Airport here.

Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Council Chairman, Swamy Goud, Speaker of the Assembly S Madhusudhan Chary, Cabinet Ministers Etala Rajender, T Harish Rao, Srinivas Yadav, City Mayor B Rammohan, Deputy Myor Baba Fasiyuddin, MPs Keshava Rao, Jithender Reddy, B Suman, MLAs and officials were those who bid adieu to the Vice President. On the occasion, KCR felicitated the Vice President with a shawl and a replica of Charminar.

Earlier in the day, Hamid Ansari and Narasimhan made a visit to some historical structure Qutub Shahi Tombs and sought to know about architecture and significance of the monuments on the premises. Ansari also asked the State government and Agakhan Foundation Trust to explore the possibility of attracting to the spot as the structures do not find required recognition on tourism map. Take measures for regular upkeep and sprucing up the structure to attract more tourists, Ansari said.

Agakhan Trust CEO Ratish Nanda apprised Ansari of about 75 structures of historic importance, including 23 mosques spread over 108 acres area. The monuments are popularly known as Seven Tombs. Restoration works of the tombs will be completed in 10 years by the academy spending Rs 100 crore, he said. (NSS)
