Hyderabad: In 119 Assembly constituencies of Telangana State, the revision work of voters’ list has started on 1st September.
According to the statement made by Chief Electoral Officer, all such voters who were born before 1st January 2001 and who would attain the age of 18 years as on 1st January 2019 may register their names as voters. All such persons may file their claims from 1st September to 31st October 2018.
Meanwhile, MBT has leveled serious allegations against a local political party.
Mr. Majeedullah Khan Farhat, President of MBT wrote a letter to Commissioner of GHMC and Chief Electoral Officer alleging that the workers of a local political party are actively engaged in getting bogus names included in the voters’ list in Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, Charminar, Malakpet, Bahadurpura, Ghoshamahal and Karwan Assembly Constituencies.
He further pointed out that in the General Elections of 2014, the same procedure was adopted and MBT had exposed many bogus names in the voters’ list at that time. A case is pending in Hyderabad High Court in this regard.
In his letter, Mr. Khan requested the Chief Electoral Officer to identify bogus voters and cancel such entries in order to ensure fair elections.
He also said that so long as the voters’ list is not free from such voters, elections cannot be held in a fair manner.
