Vote-on-Account budget from Feb. 7

The Legislative Assembly may be convened again from February 7 to 14 to take up vote-on-account budget.
According to sources, the ongoing winter session, currently debating the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill, will be concluded on January 30 and may be extended to pass the vote-on-account budget. Various departments have already sent expenditure proposals to the Finance Department and sought required funds. The vote-on-account budget will be for six months. If the State is bifurcated before the general elections, the vote-on-account budget for the united Andhra Pradesh will be divided between the two States based on some formula.
The vote on account will be sought by the government because Legislative Assembly will not be able to vote on the entire Budget before commencement of the new financial year starting from April due to general and Assembly elections.
The full-fledged budget will be adopted by the new government or governments that will be in place after the elections. (NSS)
