New Delhi : Swedish premium automobile manufacturer Volvo Car Group has said that it was recalling 59,000 cars after some owners experienced that the engines of their vehicles stopped and restarted while they were driving.
“We have no information that this has led to any accidents,” Volvo Car Group spokesman Stefan Elfstrom said.
Elfstrom said the owners of 2016 model 60 and 70 series cars were being told to take their vehicles to the dealers to get the software fault corrected, Reuters reports.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely holding group of China.
Volvo Car corporation was originally founded as a subsidiary of the ball bearing maker SKF.
The company manufactures and markets sports utility vehicles, station wagons, sedans, compact executive sedans and coupes. With approximately 2,300 local dealers from around 100 national sales companies worldwide, Volvo Cars’ largest markets are the United States, Sweden, China and Belgium.
In 2011, Volvo sold 449,255 cars globally, an increase of 20.3 percent compared to 2010. (ANI)
