Volunteers To Supervise Education Of Tribal Students: CM

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced that a volunteer would be appointed for every 100 houses to supervise education of tribal students.

Launching a program on “Quality Education for STs” in Ravindra Bharathi here, the Chief Minister said that the lowest 27 per cent of literacy rate of Tribals was indicating their backwardness. He stressed the need to change this phenomenon and improve the literacy rate of the tribal.

The Chief Minister said that 104 services would be launched in tribal areas, especially for health of tribal students. Various skill development programs would be taken up for tribal students with Rs 125 crores of NABARD assistance.

Kiran Kumar Reddy released 52 books developed in the name of “Quality Education for STs”. Out of 52 books, 26 books were meant for students and 26 books for teachers.

Minister for Tribal Welfare P Balaraju said that the Chief Minister should examine the promotions to the tribal teachers. (NSS)
