New Delhi: The decision of the government to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir received both positive and negative responses.
Although many including leaders of various political parties extended their support to the decision, some raised voice against it.
Voices which were raised against the decision
Bifurcation of J&K requires consent of the elected assembly of the State. Also any amendment thru 370 to the subjects the Union can deal with in J&K, also requires consent of the J&K assembly. Can't be done by just President or Governor's consent. Unconstitutional

Thank you for pointing this out. The manner in which they want to bulldoze our special identity is illegal & makes India an occupational force https://t.co/bPqPLSGSm5

A foreign banker friend says “people are not willing to invest in Delhi & Mumbai & Modi government dreams that they will invest in Kashmir” #Article370

The arrest of two former CMs of #JammuAndKashmir, Omar Abdullah ji and Mehbooba Mufti ji is condemnable and it could have been avoided. Govt should have taken J&K leaders into confidence.

Instead they have been arrested.
We have debated what has happened in #kashmir without voices from the valley…

They have been silenced…
I am so ashamed tonight…
Wish I could call someone there..but can't…
Till now, no one in Govt has been able to explain with any justification why a state of J and K is reduced to a union territory. Which manifesto calls for the ‘dis-membering’ of a state like this? Article 370 may have its own debatable consequences but why touch statehood?

You think this will stop at Kashmir ? It will be Assam next and then West Bengal and then the constitution and finally the democracy you cherish. I see you celebrating and wonder whether I should laugh at your ignorance or worry about your complicity. #Kashmir

You know what is scary , that One Man thinks that he knows exactly what’s the right thing to do for the benefit of 1,200,000,000 people and has the access to the power to execute it.

The decision by the Centre to repeal Article 370 and re-organise Jammu & Kashmir with many State leaders under house arrest and through a pliant Governor goes against the grain of democracy and constitutionalism.

This is a dark day in the history of Indian federalism. #Kashmir
The manner in which #Article370 & 35A have been revoked sets a bad precedent. It violates the spirit of the constitution. It means that the Center can reorganise any state by simply imposing President's rule. No stakeholders were consulted before this decision by @BJP4India. pic.twitter.com/a7YER0Bb4W

The country is making decisions about Kashmiris. And the country ensured no Kashmiri voice can be heard by blacking them out. Those who are not offended by this is because they do not view Kashmiris as humans.

Next time don't complain about the Centre not allowing Delhi to function through 'undemocratic means'. https://t.co/gZqlKIgPGQ

It may be noted that the Central Govt. removed the article that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The government also proposed to split the State into UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
