Voice of protest against pomp and show in marriage functions

Hyderabad, November 01: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan editor Siasat appealed Muslim scholars, clerics and intellectuals to stay away from marriages where the hosts show off their wealth and riches. Instead such task force should be set up which should stage protest against such hosts, so that others would learn a lesson.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan was addressing 11th ‘face to face’ programme organized by Siasat Daily and Minorities Development Forum initiated for marriage alliance settlement of prospective Muslim brides and grooms. The programme was conducted at Anwarul Uloom campus Mallepally.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan further said that decorated and festooned marriage halls in the city were on the increase day by day thanks to the pomp and show displayed in marriage parties.

Mrs Shaheda Ansari (presently residing in America) said we should keep religious aspects in view in the course of selection of life-partner for our beloved daughter.

Prof Moin Ansari Head of the department Nutrition Palmer University (America) said Muslims need to adopt Islamic approach in the present scenario; Islamic course of action should be adopted in the affairs of Nikah too.

Registration was made for 670 prospective brides and 199 prospective grooms during the programme and 15 marriage alliances were settled through mutual consultation.
