Vocal minority stifling silent majority

Vishakapatnam, February 16: Congress leader and Member of the Lok Sabha from Vijayawada, Lagadapati Rajagopal, will tour all districts of the State once the tense situation in Telangana starts easing.

Speaking at a meet-thepress here Monday, he said he wanted to undertake the tour to drive home the advantages the peoples of all the three regions and the State as a whole would get if the State remained united.

“The si lent majority should not yield to the pressure of the vocal minority, which is the case in Telangana currently,’’ he said, adding that a majority of the people in Telangana region wanted to remain in the united State with Hyderabad as its capital, but they were being cerced into toeing the line of separatists.

Terming the movement for Telangana as separatist in nature, he refuted the allegations that he had taken up the cause of Samaikyandhra just to protect the properties he had in Hyderabad.

“In fact, bifurcation of the State would actually benefit me as the value of the properties in both places would increase, benefiting me immensely.’’ Referring to the fasting undertaken by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said getting IV fluids administered did not amount to fasting.

“I have documents that prove that KCR was administered medicines for strength.’’ About the movement for Samaikya Andhra, he said that though the it originated in Visakhapatnam, Vi-jayawada soon became its hub.

Replying to a question as to why he had to escape to Hyderabad, he said that he had actually planned to go to Visakhapatnam but changed his plans as he wanted to prove that as an Indian he could move and settle anywhere in the country, much against the challenge thrown by some in the pro-Telangana movement that he would not be allowed to set foot in Hyderabad.
