VISHAKAPATNAM: Panic gripped Vizag and nearby cities after false information and photos about child lifting gangs is being circulated on WhatsApp.
With the baseless messages and videos going viral, the parents are fearing and even suspecting every unknown person.
Believing these rumours of a gang posing as beggars and indulging in child kidnapping, a beggar was thrashed to death on Sunday night, 20 May, in Visakhapatnam and at least 12 people were assaulted.
Police commissioner, Vizag City appealed the citizens not to believe rumours circulated on social media and urged them to not take law into their hands assuring strict action against attackers.
