New Delhi [India]: After sacking at least 20 employees on Wednesday which resulted in a clash between security guards and employees at Vivo’s assembling unit in Greater Noida, the phone maker has now alleged that the layoffs are in line with their business decisions and interests.
The smart phone maker has laid off 20 employees from the company, which did not go down well with the staff and ended up in a clash, reported MoneyControl.
“With continuous growth and strategic review, we look at staffing the right size in various divisions to improve productivity,” said Vivo in a company statement.
“We have strictly adhered to the rules and regulations, and the contract, and are taking all the right measures to ensure a peaceful transition keeping their best interests in consideration,” added the statement.
The news of sacking 20 employees agitated the staff after which 100 contractual employees gathered at the Vivo office to express their anger. (ANI)
