Mumbai, September 17: We have heard of film stars celebrating their birthdays via grand bashes at five and seven star hotels and resorts, in the company of their friends and relatives, but actor Vivek Oberoi and his family believe in doing things differently. And this thinking has made Vivek a darling of hundreds of underprivileged children.
The master gangster has a heart of gold, and this was brought to light yesterday when the Prince paid a visit to the historic and sacred city of Vrindavan, to declare his support as the brand ambassador of a charitable institute, Food For Life, which is opening an orphanage there. Vivek, whose birthday is actually on September 3, had a belated celebration with the children from the slums and present with him were his father, actor Suresh Oberoi, mother Yashodhra and some other relatives
.
When the actor reached Vrindavan’s Sandipani Muni School, run by the organization, Food For Life, he was greeted by hundreds of children who showered him with gifts consisting of hand made greeting cards. Vivek was highly touched by the welcome and made sure that he and his family hugged all the children so that they feel special, thus making their day.
Way to go Vivek. Let’s hope more publicity seeking ‘charity celebs’ do it the simple, effective and low profile way that you have done it in Lord Krishna’s Vrindavan!
