Vivekananda vows to continue fast supporting united AP

Kadapa (AP), December 18: Congress MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy, brother of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, today vowed to continue his fast-unto-death until the Centre made a clear statement in favour of united Andhra Pradesh.

“My fast-unto-death will continue until the Central Government makes a clear announcement on a unified state.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram should give more clarity on this burning issue,” he said.

Reddy’s fast entered the fourth day today.

Vivekananda Reddy’s wife Y S Sowbhagyamma, Congress MLAs in Kadapa district — Adinarayana Reddy, Srikanth Reddy and Kamalamma — had joined him in the fast yesterday.

Vivekananda Reddy and other legislators criticised the police action against the students of Sri Krishnadevaraya University at Anantapur.

Police cane-charged the students a few days ago following a clash.
