Viveka shifted to RIMS

Kadapa, December 20: MLC YS Vivekananda Reddy who had been on fast-untodeath for Samaikyandhra for the past five days, was arrested and shifted to RIMS Hospital today.

Tension prevailed at the fast camp when activists of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) prevented the police from arresting Reddy. Ignoring his pleas that he was well and he himself would surrender if his health condition deteriorates, the police took Reddy into custody and shifted him to hospital. However, Reddy continued his fast in the hospital.

Resenting the arrest of Reddy, JAC convener Ch Chandrasekhar Reddy called for a 72-hour district bandh.

He said the JAC was forced to call for the three-day bandh as the police used force to break the peaceful and democratic protest against bifurcation of the State. He urged people to ensure the success of the bandh. The JAC convener alleged that Reddy was arrested at the behest of Chief Minister K Rosaiah and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
