Peddapalli MP G Vivek on Wednesday stated that he had lodged a complaint with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia over the non-utilisation of funds meant for SC/ST welfare.
Talking to media persons at former Rajya sabha member K Kesava Rao’s residence, Vivek said that he had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman seeking their intervention to ensure proper utilisation of SC/ST welfare funds. He said he has brought to their notice the diversion of funds allotted for the SC/STs welfare for other programmes. “I brought this to notice of Prime Minister as Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy did not responded favourably over the issue,” he said.
Vivek said that he had appealed to the Prime Minister to make a strong act to use the SC/ST sub-plan funds for their welfare. Apart from this, he urged the Prime Minister to appoint a nodal officer to monitor the utilization of funds. He said that both the Prime minister and Ahluwalia responded favourably to his demand and assured to look into issue.
The Peddapalli MP said that the Central cabinet has approved the release Rs 5, 500 crore to open defunct fertilizer factory in Ramagundam in the State. However, the Board for Industrial and Finance Reconstruction have been delaying the matter, he alleged. He urged the Centre to intervene in this issue and take steps to open the factory as early as possible. (INN)
